Dr. Mike Takacs has provided various services in the central Virginia community since 2009. He has extensive training in various clinical treatment modalities, holds a BS in Criminal Justice, a master’s in Professional Counseling, an Educational Specialist degree in curriculum and instruction, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. He is well established in the community of mental health professionals due to his commitment to his practice and the field of counseling as evident by his advocacy work for underserved populations and commitment to professional counseling organizations.
His clinical practice and training have extended towards being a leading counselor in the area who focuses on couple’s therapy through clinical and research-supported models of treatment, being trained in levels 1 and 2 from the Gottman Institute, and proficient in helping couples who have experienced relationship traumas such as infidelity and pornography addictions. Additionally focusing on connection within the couple through intimacy, emotional connection, and communication. Dr. Takacs has also developed a model of treatment and sustaining freedom from pornography addiction through his research and experience for both individuals and healing the damage caused by pornography use.
